KMU Magazin 2021: Conquering the world market with Brextor

Innovative products that play an important role on the global market are constantly being created in Central Switzerland. For example, “Brextor” from BRC Engineering AG in Rain. Winning the Zinno “idea cheque” motivated the company to market the pile breaking machine internationally.

Whether single piles, tangential or secant pile walls: “Brextor” fulfils all requirements in pile breaking. One of the major advantages of the new pile breaking method is, that it is extremely efficient. The patented milling process speeds up workflows and makes it easier to plan follow-up work. In addition, unlike conventional pile breaking methods, the milling machine does not leave any damage to the pile head. No wonder, then, that this revolutionary development is attracting a great deal of interest from companies all over the world.

Renowned references

“Brextor” has long made its breakthrough on the national stage. Every year, it is used in countless large-scale projects. Current projects include Lonza in Visp, the Wilderswil bypass, Tivoli Garden in Spreitenbach, the Bad Zurzach eastern bypass and the new construction of the Emme logistics centre of Imbach Logistik AG in Schachen. In the latest named project, the prototype of a 2-metre pile was successfully tested. Various well-known companies have already invested in “Brextor” and its unique technology, including Aregger AG, Marti Construction SA and Hastag St. Gallen Bau AG last year. Series production has now been launched and various production and quality processes have been optimised.

Multiple awards

Although Covid-19 has had a major impact on international business, BRC Engineering AG has been able to establish good contacts in recent months, which are now being actively pursued. The time is currently being used to continue working on the internationalisation strategy. One of the next big goals for Alois Portmann and his team is to take part in BAUMA, the world’s largest construction machinery trade fair, which is held annually in Munich. By the way: Last year, BRC Engineering AG was awarded the popular “Seal of Excellence” quality label by the European Commission. But the company is not only innovative. It is also socially committed. At the beginning of the year, Alois Portmann received the IV Award from WAS IV (Swiss invalidity insurance) Lucerne for his exemplary social commitment.
