A tangent pile wall is a special construction method used in civil engineering to build retaining walls, excavations and foundations. The construction consists of a series of bored piles that are driven into the ground so closely together that they touch at the edges but do not overlap. This arrangement results in a stable and load-bearing wall. However, it is not completely watertight. This type of pile wall is often used in areas where stability and load-bearing capacity are required, but complete impermeability is not necessary. The tangential arrangement of the piles creates a robust wall structure that can withstand high loads and is well suited for a variety of construction projects.

Areas of application of the tangent pile wall
Construction pit enclosure
The tangent pile wall offers high stability and is sufficiently permeable to water, making it ideal for excavations where complete impermeability is not required. They prevent earth material from slipping and ensure safety in the excavation pit. It is also a good solution in confined spaces.
Sound and noise barriers
The tangent pile wall is often used in urban areas as a sound and noise protection measure. It forms high, stable walls that effectively serve as barriers against noise. Thanks to their robust construction, they can significantly reduce the noise level in adjacent residential or commercial areas and thus contribute to improving the quality of life and work.
Retaining walls
The tangent pile wall can absorb high lateral earth pressure forces and is ideal for securing slopes and embankments. The tangential arrangement of the piles creates a stable and load-bearing structure that prevents landslides and erosion. These walls make it possible to safely shape steep terrain cuts and make areas on slopes usable. They offer a long-term solution for stabilizing slopes and can be flexibly adapted to different geotechnical requirements.

Pile breaking of a tangent pile wall
One method that can be used to process the tangential bored pile wall is the Brextor® method. However, Brextor® can also be used to process all other types of pile walls, regardless of whether they are secant or contiguous.

In addition, Brextor® requires less working space than conventional mining methods. This means that not only expenses for transportation and disposal incl. fees are saved, but the purchase and supply of replacement material is also eliminated. Furthermore, the preparatory work eliminates the need for a separating diamand cut at the final extraction level and the cleaning effort is massively lower than with conventional extraction methods.

For example, a pile with a diameter of 1 m and a height of 1 m can be processed within 40 minutes. A daily output of up to 16 piles is possible. In addition, Brextor® provides reliable performance and therefore increased planning security.

With Brextor®, the demolition material (80% gravel 0-30mm) can be reused directly on the construction site. Brextor® also requires less working space. This saves excavation and replacement material. By reusing the demolition material directly on the construction site and saving on excavation and replacement material, transportation can be saved. In addition, landfills are less polluted.

No heavy physical labor is required for pile processing, which massively reduces the risk of health hazards such as HAVS syndrome. Brextor® also avoids working in danger zones.
