Pile head treatment

Pile head treatment is a crucial step in the construction process to ensure the stability and durability of structures. It involves working on the pile head to prepare it for connection to the reinforcement and further construction work. This process involves chiseling, machining and preparing the uppermost pile section to ensure an optimal connection with the rest of the building structure. Professional capping improves the quality of the foundation and increases the service life of the structure.

Why is pile head treatment important?

Bored piles are used as load-bearing elements in foundations, especially in large construction projects with high loads. After installation, the bored piles often protrude beyond the planned final height. In order to ensure a stable and secure connection with the reinforcement and the structural elements above, the pile head must be professionally processed. Pile head treatment ensures that loose concrete parts are removed, the reinforcement is exposed and a flat surface is created for further construction. This also helps to prevent construction errors and improves the load transfer from the structure to the subsoil.

Where is pile head treatment carried out?

Pile head treatment usually takes place on construction sites for buildings, bridges, tunnels and other infrastructure projects where bored piles are used as foundation elements. Especially in urban areas, where space is limited and construction site conditions are tight, efficient and precise pile head processing is essential. The capping of bored piles is also used for projects in difficult subsoil or for large infrastructure projects such as port facilities or dams.

Tools and equipment for pile head treatment

Traditionally, the pile head treatment is carried out manually using demolition hammers, caulking hammers and cut-off saws. However, these methods are often labor-intensive, time-consuming and can damage the reinforcement and the structure of the pile.

To meet the requirements of modern construction projects, a method is needed that combines efficiency, safety and quality.

Brextor® is an efficient, safe and high-quality method for pile head treatment. With this method, not only single piles, but also all types of pile walls (tangent, secant or contiguous) are processed gently by machine. The work is carried out by one person and one machine, whereby the weather conditions have no influence here.

Pile head treatment with an innovative solution

Brextor® offers the following advantages:

🏗 Increased construction quality

Perfect pile head treatment without cracks in the pile body or spalling on the pile outer skin, no bent or torn reinforcements and a height accuracy of +/- 1cm.

💵 Reduced construction costs

The demolition material consists of 80% gravel 0-30mm and can therefore be reused directly on the construction site. In addition, Brextor® requires less working space than conventional mining methods. This means that not only expenses for transportation and disposal incl. fees are saved, but the purchase and supply of replacement material is also eliminated. Furthermore, the preparatory work eliminates the need for a separating diamand cut at the final extraction level and the cleaning effort is massively lower than with conventional extraction methods.

Shortened processing time

For example, a pile with a diameter of 1 m and a height of 1 m can be processed within 40 minutes. A daily output of up to 16 piles is possible. In addition, Brextor® provides reliable performance and therefore increased planning security.

♻️ Environmentally friendly

With Brextor®, the demolition material (80% gravel 0-30mm) can be reused directly on the construction site. In addition, Brextor® requires less working space. This saves excavation and replacement material. Due to the direct reuse of the demolition material on the construction site and the saving of excavation and replacement material, transports can be saved. In addition, landfills are less burdened.

👷 Increased health & safety at work

No heavy physical work is required for pile cutting, which massively reduces the risk of health hazards such as HAVS syndrome. In addition, Brextor® avoids working in danger zones.
